Job Description:
The Drill Lead will play a crucial part in overseeing and
coordinating drilling activities, ensuring the efficient execution
of geotechnical investigations. The successful candidate will
provide guidance to Drill Assistants and Drillers, troubleshoot
technical issues, and contribute to the overall success of
construction and engineering projects.Essential Duties and
ResponsibilitiesReasonable accommodations or workable solutions may

- Lead and coordinate drilling operations, ensuring compliance
with project specifications, safety guidelines meeting industry
standards of care.
- Provide work direction to Drill Assistants and Drillers for
efficient and effective execution of drilling activities.
- Review project instructions, and ensure all materials and
supplies are available for project completion.
- Maintain knowledge of regulatory requirements for sealing of
boreholes.
- Oversee the technical aspects of drilling operations, including
equipment calibration, drilling methodologies, and sample
collection and classification.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues that may arise during
drilling activities.
- Assess drilling sites and determine optimal locations for
drilling.
- Ensure proper site preparation, including marking drilling
locations and coordinating with other team members.
- Team with Drill Assistant or Driller to document test boring
locations and elevations.
- Oversee the routine maintenance of drilling equipment, ensuring
that all tools and machinery are in optimal working condition.
- Conduct regular pre-operational checks to assess the condition
of drilling tools, machinery, supporting equipment, and safety
devices.
- Collaborate with the internal or external maintenance teams to
address any equipment-related issues promptly.
- Ensure accurate documentation of drilling activities including
depths, soil types, ground water, and other pertinent
information.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders
to ensure proper recording of drilling data.
- Provide training and mentorship to Drillers and Drill
Assistants, fostering a positive learning environment.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of the team through
knowledge sharing and skill development.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders
to understand project requirements and drilling objectives.
- Foster open communication and collaboration within the drilling
team to address project challenges and ensure successful outcomes.
Supervisory Responsibility
- Technical oversight of daily work responsibility.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Class D Driver's License
- Insurable driving record and ability to obtain a medical
card.
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a Driller or in a similar
role.
- Advanced knowledge of geotechnical drilling techniques,
methodologies, and equipment.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to perform routine
maintenance tasks.
- Ability to interpret drilling instructions.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment.
- Willingness to work outdoors and in varying weather
conditions.
- Ability to travel up to 20% - 80% of work time including
overnight travel. Preferred Skills
- Class A or B Driver's License.Work EnvironmentThis position
also may require field work in outdoor conditions on construction
sites with uneven ground and adverse weather conditions. This role
routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones,
and photocopiers.Physical DemandsThe physical demands described

ability to adjust focus.Pay Transparency Base compensation is
expected to be in the range of $29.71-$37.16 per hour based on
